Preparing You for a Next-Generation Career

Online MS in Data Science

The Tufts online Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) program prepares you for a next-generation career in data analysis and data-centric problem-solving—or for further study in the data science field.

The MS in Data Science program is delivered 100 percent online. Throughout the program, you’ll use your mathematical aptitude to develop your understanding, knowledge, and skills within the following areas of data science:

  • Probabilistic systems analysis
  • Machine learning
  • Data mining
  • Big data
  • Data infrastructure
  • Data analysis

Upon completion of the program, you should be prepared to:

  • Define and solve complex data-based problems.
  • Select appropriate statistical and predictive methodologies with data sets.
  • Provide interpretation of results based on discipline-related concepts.
  • Clearly communicate conclusions drawn from the analyses of data.

The Early Decision Deadline is June 27

GRE UPDATE
GRE Scores Not Required

GRE scores are no longer required for candidates with an undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution. GRE scores are required for applicants who don’t have a degree from a U.S. or Canadian institution.

Big Data = A Big Opportunity

Careers among data scientists and in mathematical science occupations are expected to grow 31 percent over the next decade, with a median salary approaching six figures.* You don’t need an MSDS to recognize that kind of opportunity, but you likely need one to fully capitalize on it.

Careers for MSDS program graduates may include:

  • Data Analyst
  • Data Engineer
  • Database Administrator
  • Machine Learning Engineer
  • Data Scientist
  • Database Architect
  • Statistician
  • Data and Analytics Manager
School of Engineering alumni have gone on to positions at:

  • Axon Enterprise
  • Google
  • Microsoft
  • Raytheon
  • Amazon
  • Wayfair
